Head

Begin with Jade yarn.

Round 1: MR of 6 (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: 18sc
Round 5: (2sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Round 6: (3sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Round 7: 9sc, BLO: 5sc, 16sc (30)
Round 8: 5 sl st, BLO: 3 sc, 3 dec, BLO: 3 sc, 12 sl st (27)
Round 9: dec, 4sc, dec, FLO: 1hdc, 1dbl, 2dbl in the same stitch; FLO: (in the same stitch): 1 dbl, 1 trbl, 1 dbl; FLO: 2dbl in the same stitch, 1dbl, 1hdc; BOTH loops: dec, 4sc, 4 dec (25)
Round 10: 3 dec, (BLO: 2sc, dec) x 3, 3 dec (15)

Stuff head and shape mouth area to prepare it for the red and pink felt insert we will be making.

Round 11: (2sc, dec) x 5 (10)
Round 12: sl st, clip yarn, using a yarn needle sew up the head by inserting your needle into every front loop of the last 10 stitches. Pull tight, using the rest of the yarn tail sculpt the mouth of Venusaur to form the correct shape. Leave the tail for sewing the head to the body.

Ears

Insert your hook between rows 3 and 4 and single crochet directly onto Venusaur's head. Single crochet 5 into the same stitch to create the ear. Tie off, clip and hide your yarn tails. Cut a small red triangle of felt and using the fabri-tac glue the triangles into place.

Eyes

Cut 4 half circles out of the red and white felt: 2 larger half white circles and 2 smaller red half circles. Once the fabric glue dries using Jade yarn and a yarn needle create eyelids over the tops of the eyes by sewing back and forth over the eyes.

Mouth

Cut pink and red felt to fit inside the space we made for the mouth. The pink shape should be slightly smaller than the red so that there is a thin red outline all the way around the mouth. Using fabri-tac glue the pieces in place, red first and then pink. Next embroider two black nostrils directly above the mouth using the black embroidery thread and needle. Finally add Venusaur's teeth, he has a total of six teeth; four on the bottom row and two on the top corners. I make the bottom teeth using french knots and the white embroidery thread, I make the top teeth by simply sewing back and forth between the rows above the mouth.

Body

Begin with Jade yarn. Stuff body as you go.

Round 1: MR of 6 (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Round 4: (2sc, inc) x 6 (24)
Round 5-12: 8 rows - 24sc
Round 13: (2sc, dec) x 6 (18)
Round 14: (1sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Round 15: 6 dec (6) sl st, clip yarn and weave in ends

Legs: make 4

Begin with Jade yarn.

Round 1: MR of 6 (6)
Round 2: BLO: 6sc
Round 3: 6sc (6)
Round 4: 6 inc (12)
Round 5: 12sc, sl st, clip yarn, leave a tail for sewing

Add details:  Add three toes to each front leg using the cream colored yarn. Tie and hide your yarn tails inside each leg.

Assemble your Pokémon to this point by sewing on the front and back legs and the head. Using french knots add bumps all over your Venusaur. I add three bumps to each of legs and 2-4 bumps on each side of the body before adding the flower.

Leaves (make 5):

Round 1: ch 9
Round 2: 1sc, ch 1; repeat that pattern up the foundation chain, 3sc at the top of the chain into the same stitch to turn your work. Next work your way back down the opposite side of the leaf with the same pattern 1sc, ch 1, sl st at the end then clip yarn leaving a tail for sewing.

Tie the leaves together with their yarn tails then sew the bunch of leaves directly onto Venusaur's back. Weave in all the loose tails.

Flower on Venusaur's Back:

Begin with Brown for the stem:

Round 1: MR of 6 (6)
Round 2: BLO: 6sc (6)
Round 3-4: 2 rows - 6sc (6)

Switch to yellow on last stitch of round 4

Round 5: 6sc (6)
Round 6: 6sc (6)

Sew stem onto Venusaur's back directly in the center of the leaves using the yellow yarn tail. You can sew directly down the stem's center tube onto the Venusaur securing the stem in place.

Flower Petals (make 6):

Begin with the Pink yarn:

Round 1: ch 7, turn
Round 2: sc back along the chain (6) ch 1 turn
Round 3: sc back along the piece (6) sl st, clip yarn, weave in shorter end and leave longer end for sewing

Sew the flower petals in between the yellow part of the stem and the brown part of the stem so that the yellow continues to stick up and out of the flower. Hide your pink yarn tails down the stem of the plant on Venusaur's back.

Cut 12 small white "dots" out of the white felt for the flower petals. I put one small dot and one larger dot on every petal using the fabri-tac.
